Independence Day!

The Declaration of Independence.

I just thought I would like to share some information regarding the signers of the Declaration of Independence. If we could just realize (Which I know we all do) what calibur of men these were, and the sacrifices they made to put their names on that piece of paper that has changed our future.

56 men signed the Declaration of Independence.

5 signers were captured and tortured by the British and put to death.

12 had homes ransacked and burned

2 lost sons serving in the Revolutionary war

2 had sons caputured in the Revolutionary war by the British

9 of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary war.

Carter Braxton- A signer... Saw his ships destroyed by the British Navy. He sold his home and property to pay his debts, and died in rags. He once was a very wealthy man.

Thomas McKean- Served in Congress without pay and his family was kept in hiding. His posessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward.

Francis Lewis- Had his home and property destroyed. The British jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.

John Hart- Was driven from his wife's deathbed. Their 13 children fled for their lives. For more than a year, he lived in forests and caves, returning to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

These men pledged their lives, sacred honor, and fortune to sign the Declaration of Independence.



I just wanted to share this, I know I didn't know this information until Chase's history teacher through his Liahona taught him this. I am so thankful that these men did what they did so we can have the freedoms we enjoy.... Freedom is not free, and we need to keep constant watch over it!

More branding!

Me and Casey decided to get more beef cows, so he bought more and had to brand them. These cows are pretty wild, they have been out on the range and roping them and branding them wasn't easy for Casey and the guys. 

Here's Casey riding the Dunn, this horse is still pretty stupid, he about ran Casey into the fence a few times.... our good horse still has a hurt leg and hopefully he'll get better soon. 

Here's Luke on pepto, and Chase and Wyatt are on the ground helping. 

It was cute, while we were watching the guys, the kids decided to make a club house out of the sagebrush.... earlier they had found an egg and were trying to make a nest for it. 

4th of July Celebration

For the 4th of July celebration this year, we started it off by going to the parade..... they are always interesting, and I have realized that parade's are just a publicity booster for local businesses.... and then you get the few odd ones that think they have a cool car so they just drive it through the parade. 

Rachel is holding Coy during the parade, he doesn't like noise, and it was freezing ! After the parade we went to the rodeo, and Jesse was riding  stock saddle, he won it and scored 88 points... here is a video of his ride. Just please remember I am not a professional here, and you might get really dizzy watching my wonderful job of recording his ride!

We've been busy!

This summer has been busy so far. I had to go to girls camp, and me and Rachel and my mom went to see Angie in Utah, we had a lot of fun. Just about every night Casey likes to go to the arena and ride the horses, so the kids have fun riding and playing with the neighbor kids.

Aiden loves to get his big grin on for the pictures.

Here we went to the Gooding ranch rodeo, and Aiden was feeling sorry for himself for some reason.... he is so funny when he gets like this, it reminds me of how my sister Angie used to be when she was a kid!
